Forty-eight pages of 100% cotton, 140lb cold press paper, bound to lay completely flat.
Cotton paper behaves differently from wood pulp. It absorbs water evenly instead of buckling, holds a wash without pilling, and lets you lift and rework color rather than fighting the surface. It's what the paper is made of that matters, and this is the real thing — acid-free, so what you paint on it will still look right in twenty years.
The 6×6 square is deliberate. It fits in a bag without ceremony, and the lay-flat binding means you can work across the gutter and treat a spread as one surface. No fighting the spine, no propping it open with your elbow.
